" A Gift of Caring" Capital Campaign
Expanding our space
Expanding our mission
For more than 30 years, Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, Inc. (HoNCO) has been providing, at no
expense, quality end-of-life care to those with a terminal diagnosis while supporting those living with grief and loss.
HoNCO currently rents office space and a warehouse in Ponca City. Both facilities, located on opposite sides of town, are at maximum capacity. Two decades ago, HoNCO was bequeathed major funds earmarked for the purchase of a facility for expansion of services. HoNCO carefully invested these major donations. In November 2011, the ideal building was purchased from the proceeds of this investment for $1,050,000, debt-free.
The location, 1308 East Bradley, is now the First Assembly of God Church, which rents the building from HoNCO until the construction of a new building for the church is complete. Our eight-month renovation will begin once the church is vacant.
The project aims to raise $2.7 million to renovate the church building to a multifunctional office, warehouse and multi-purpose room to benefit our 50-mile radius service area. Included in the budget are funds for long-term maintenance to protect this investment for decades to come.
The new building will bring all HoNCO operations under one roof combining our medical division and main operations with the Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Department presently housed in a separate location. In the new facility the equipment will be sanitized, sealed and stored ready to be loaned at any time of the day or night providing greater efficiency in serving our patients and those in the community who take advantage of the free DME loan program.
The large multi-purpose room, The Carolyn Renfro Celebration of Life Center, will seat 200 and provide space for the HoNCO "Transitions" bereavement progrm to hold support groups as well as grief and loss educational offerings. This will also be a place for the community, individuals or businesses, to use for conferences, family reunions and other "Celebrations of Life" such as birthdays and anniversaries.
